FLOORING, TILE & COUNTERTOPS

FLOORING
There are many types and quality levels of floor covering. The following is a list of floor coverings and their approximate installed costs:
CARPET - $2.50 to $4.00 per sq ft
HARDWOOD FLOORS - $6.00 to $15.00 per sq ft
TILE FLOORS - $5.00 to $15.00 per sq ft
LINOLEUM / vinyl FLOORS - $2.50 to $5.00 per sq ft
STONE FLOORS - $7.50 to $20.00 per sq ft

NOTE: on average, materials comprise about 33% of the total cost

TILE WALL FINISH - Bathtub surrounds and showers walls-
Tile prices vary widely, ranging from inexpensive 4" white tiles to expensive imports. The following are some budget guidelines including labor:
TUB/SHOWER (normal 3'x6') - $500 - $1200
SHOWER (small) - $350 to $750
SHOWER (large) $1,000 to $2,000
WHIRLPOOL PLATFORMS - $350 to $1500

COUNTERTOPS

These average costs are for the countertops typically installed in the kitchen, bathrooms & utility mudroom. The materials used can be ceramic tile, granite, Coriantm, Formicatm, stone, concrete or wood. The following are some rough cost guidelines including labor for a 12'x13' kitchen, average size bathrooms & mud room:

Kitchen (tile) - $2,200 to $4,500
Kitchen (Formicatm) - $1450 to $2500
Kitchen (Coriantm) - $3500 to $8500
Kitchen (granite tile) - $3500 to $8500
Butcher block island tops (wood) (10 to 30 sq ft) - $500 to $1000
Bath and Mud rooms (tile) - $350 to $1000
Bath and Mud rooms (Formicatm) $250 to $500
Bath and Mud rooms (Coriantm) - $500 to $1500
Bath and Mud rooms (cultured marble) -$300 to $750
Bath and Mud rooms (marble tile) - $500 to $2000
